thermostat gauge accuracy

Hi everyone, just wanted to know, how accurate is the thermostat qauge on the dash? Is it within a few degrees or is a more "passive" gauge (goes up to 1/2 mark and sits there)?? also...if the actual temperature would be off by a few degrees does it effect the over-all performance of the car (accel, fuel consumption,turbo)??

it should be accurate,if its off by a lot it will effect the over-all performance of the car.

if you have a scanner that has live feed you can see what the temp. is.

if you do not have one, one of mine should be able to check it.
