hole/slot in airbox???what for?

hi everyone. I just changed out my air filter on my 2006 v70. When i took out the filter that was in there, i noticed a slot. Basically if you're looking at the airbox, it'll be on your upper right hand side (just below where the air filter sits. It seems to have been done on purpose but there is nothing connected inside this hole, it's just an open hole...any ideas? getting warm air inside the box? hahahahah

Tu parle tu du trou qui donne de l'air a la batterie par un genre de tube accrocher au hood??

non sais pas ca...si tu ouvre le couvert de filter, enlever le filter. dans le haut de la boite, a l'intereur, il y a un troue...(pour faire entrer l'aire???)

So basically it's at the back side of the box( between the box and the fuse panel) just below where the top cover of the box is...there is a hole bigger then a tooney....I was thinking maybe in the event of water getting sucked in, it might prevent damage to the engine? i mean, the warm engine air will get sucked into the engine, i guess it can't hurt??

My original airbox is like that and there was no hole there.... May be someone did this hole so there is more air coming in?

keyclub..ah okay..so maybe they did do it for more air? strange..oh well.
