    Fabs,

If you put the car in drive, hold it with the brake, and give it gas to load up the engine, can you duplicate the rattle? You should try that...would make it so much easier to find where it's coming from...

Try it...you'd be surprised how much things move when you load it up while holding it with the brake...

By holding it with the brake in drive and loading the engine with the gas, it will move as much as, if not more than it should during normal driving...

In fact, if you look at how much the engine twists, you may discover that you may have a worn motor mount that is allowing the engine and exhaust to move to the point where it rubs...

Hey Roger..ya i thought the same thing..when i was there the other day, i asked the guys to look at the upper engine mount as they said there is a little bit of play...might be that?
i don't know if this makes a diff or not but i also have the ipd strut bar brace conversion kit..don't know if that might contribute to a bit more vibration or not?

The worn upper mount doesn't help...

And the Ipd conversion would transmit more vibration into the chassis...

But the Ipd thing should have nothing to do with the rattle from the exhaust...

                      found it!

well after trying to take some video recording of different spots to see where it was, i noticed something in one of the video's..right after the flex pipe, there are 2 metal hanger brackets (that hold up the downpipe) that go into the rubber brackets...well on one end of the bracket (drivers side) it looked ok but on the pass. side it seems like this metal backet is coming down too much and seems to almost touch the metal plating underneath and is almost touching the metal (brake or power steering) line...so i took a think piece of rubber (from a floor mat) and wedged it between the flat metal bottom plate, the metal hanger and the steering or brake line...took it for a drive and the vibration is gone!
not sure if i should mention it to the guys at the muffler shop? maybe they can cut and shorten the metal bracket? i think at the same time i might change the muffler for a quieter one (pretty drooney in the car)

That's where our tech showed me where he adjusted it...I guess the bracket is too long and that's why it goes back to where it vibrates again...

I would go back and have them shorten it...

That's the only problem with a full 3" exhaust, it's hard to keep the drone away!

Roger, ya i guess i will have him shorten it...for the exhaust..it's 3" downpipe and 2.5 after..is it the downpipe that causes this or the whole thing all together? mind you, i don't think that having a "free flow" muffler helps much..that's why i was thinking of having a more baffled one...whatcha think?

Oh, I don't know why I thought you had a 3" cat-back...forget my comments then...

The 3" downpipe with 2.5" catback is just fine, in fact that's what I have. It's the best compromise between performance and sound levels. But a properly tuned catback with one muffler and a resonator shouldn't really have any drone...

I would stick with the free-flow muffler, but maybe change the middle resonator instead, if you indeed find it too loud or thay it drones too much on the highway...
