FOR SALE - 1966 Volvo 122/Amazon - $3,500
Well , my Volvo Amazon's up on the market . It's been my daily driver for a few years now & I have the serious itch for an old car project (maybe an old Ford shoebox , Model A sedan or ??) . I have a few other cars to drive daily , so I guess the Amazon's days are numbered in my fleet .
She's a '66 , but looks straight out of the 50's with Volvo's firm grasp on modern style back in the day (10 yrs. behind US styles) , lol .
Some info on it (I'll try to make it simple) - most replacement parts were purchased from IPD.
The suspension has been given a serious going-over & has been upgraded all over with loads of new stuff like sport/lowering springs w/Bilstein shocks , big sway bars , upper/lower balljoints , steering links & poly bushings all over the place . It handles VERY well for a 40+ yr. old car - suprises a lot of people .
The brakes have been given a going over too , with a new master cylinder , braided hoses all over (in place of stock rubber) , wheel cylinders & shoes/pads and handbrake cables .
The cars has new body seals all over the place too , like front/rear windshield seals , door seals , glass scraper seals on the doors & a bunch of other seals here/there .
The engine is a later (larger) Volvo 'plant - now a 2-liter B-20 , up from a B-18 . It has dual S.U. carbs that have been freshened up , plus have K&N filters . It's had a recent rebuilt starter installed too . The car is a 4-speed stickshift with rebuilt clutch hydraulics .
The car is very reliable - I drive it about 25 miles/day to work as often as I can - was 100% daily till recently when I got my 4th car back on the road (yup , nuts) .
As you can see , it's satin black , has a bunch of pinstriping & some other goodies added to make "the look" . It's not a show car , but it's a good solid driver . The front floors have been patched by a previous owner and are still holding up fine . I recently changed to early Amazon grilles to replace the 1-piece aluminum jobbies - now it looks much better , IMHO .
