I need some funds to help with the next round of Volvo improvements so I'm putting my 5 speed transmission up for sale. I am located in Colorado, and a local buyer would be preferred. But if you want to pay to ship it, I'll do my best to box it all up safely.
Here is what you get for $1100.
Getrag 265
Aluminum Getrag to Volvo adapter plate
Volvo bellhousing modified for conversion.
Modified Clutch Fork
BMW Release Bearing.
Custom built shifter cage
Short throw shifter.
Modified Volvo 740 cross member to support the tail end of the Getrag.
Trans mount.
Custom built front drive shaft for a 740.
Guibo.
Lightened 740 dog dish flywheel. Its about 8lbs lighter than stock, and cost a fortune to have machined.
Clutchnet high rate pressure plate.
Clutchnet 4 puck clutch disk.
Custom made Stainless Pilot bearing spacer.
The trans is in good shape. It holds 500 ft-lbs like a champ. It doesn't grind on shifts. The syncros are at least average to good. It works just like a stock Getrag 265 should.
The clutch is fine, but is beyond its capacity behind this engine. It doesn't hold 500 ft-lbs and it slips behind my engine if the boost is turned up and the trans is in 4th gear. But on a normal 18-20psi tune it holds fine. Its about as aggressive as it gets for a single disk clutch. And I do believe it has some life still. It has about 5000-7000 miles on it.
Everything is still in my car, and I want to wait for a buyer before I pull it. I drive the car all the time and want to minimize the down time. This also means that you can come drive everything and confirm the condition.
The bad things. The clutch does make some noise occasionally on take-off. It might need a new disk. Or it might just be a normal thing for super aggressive disks to groan a little when slipping. It has made this noise since the disk and PP were new. I'll know more when it comes apart and I can see the parts. Regardless, all the parts are here for a drop in conversion. Maybe you need to freshen the disk, maybe not. Also, the transmission drips a small amount of oil. This is very common for older BMW Getrags. I haven't seen a dry one yet. The front and rear shaft seals can be replaced, and I have the parts to do that. I can include them with the trans..
$1100 and its all yours.
